Mexico City

Mexico City

Living in London I'm incredibly spoiled by the choice of all things arts, culture, restaurants and what not, but Mexico City was an absolute treat.

Palacio de Bellas Artes - the Opera House

A beautiful building inside and out, with a stunning marble interior, and a great show.

Pork cracklings. Would you try?

Mexico: Mexico City

The National Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City

Having travelled a bit and living in London, I am not easily impressed by museums, but the National Museum in Mexico City bent my knees...

One day was not enough...

And the world hasn't ended...

Estela de Luz - The Pillar of Light

The Pillar of Light - a monument in memory of  Mexican independence. What was to be a symbol of hope, became a huge controversy...

Mexico City - Coyoacan

A wonderful AirBnB stay in a 16th century building, on the doorstep of Frida Kahlo museum.
Coyoacan - a lovely area. Apart from the Frida museum, plenty of restaurants, cafes and a great place to stay.

Shopping organised by streets: a street for chairs, a street for jewellery, a street for rugs...

Danza de los Voladores - Dance of the Flying Men

Best things happen without planning... Serendipitously came across this (and was conscious enough to start filming!), a Unesco-listed Mexican ritual.

Dance of the Flying Men (also called Dance of the Flyers or Pole Flyers) is an ancient Mexican ritual. The Ritual Ceremony of the Flyers is a fertility dance and is on the Unesco's Intangible Cultural Heritage list.
